Before showing off these pictures, we want to show our support for all of those who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. It’s been a tough week-plus for the Houston area and Southeast Texas and we’d like to give our best. We are available to help on any pool maintenance issues that storms and flooding have caused and encourage you to help in whatever way you can.

You can donate food or clothing to local shelters such as the one at College Park High School, donate to organizations such as the Red Cross either online or via text (text “HARVEY” to 909-99). Texans’ defensive end J.J. Watt is also heading up a fundraiser which has received $10 million in donations.

College Park boys basketball starting its district season

The new year means turning the page on many things, including the high school basketball district season. Ultimate Pools is proud to be a sponsor of College Park High School boys basketball, which has been quite successful since College Park High School opened its doors in 2005. The Cavaliers started District 16-6A play last week with a loss to Atascocita, which is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation by USA Today. College Park then fell to The Woodlands this past Friday.

If the history of the program is any indication though, this season is one that will be worth watching. College Park has won four district titles and made the playoffs five times in its 10-year history under head coach Clifton McNeely, most recently during the 2013-14 season. The Cavaliers have advanced as far as the regional semifinals, which they did during the 2011-12 season.

This season’s Cavaliers squad has a mix of youth and experience that will be fun to watch. College Park is led by 6-foot-4 sophomore Quentin Grimes (17.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game) and sophomore Shannon Scott (14.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg). It also gets solid veteran leadership from senior guard McKinley Green (9.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.3 apg) and senior forward Dax de Boer, who leads the team with 6.1 rebounds per game.

With games coming up against teams such as Kingwood, Oak Ridge, Summer Creek and Conroe — along with rematches with The Woodlands and Atascocita — there is a lot of entertaining College Park basketball action to come this season. Ultimate Pools honored to sponsor College Park volleyball

Football isn’t the only sport at The Woodlands College Park High School that Ultimate Pools sponsors. We are also happy to be in league with the school’s girls volleyball program, which started its season just a few weeks ago.

The Cavaliers have consistently been one of the top teams in the area, as they have made the playoffs eight years in a row and are off to a 14-7 start this season heading into the beginning of District 16-6A play. College Park went to the area round of the playoffs last season after winning in the bi-district round and finishing third place in District 14-5A.

College Park has also had a fair share of players move on to the college level, as the Cavaliers have sent players to universities such as Michigan, Ohio State, Virginia, UC San Diego, Sam Houston State and Tulsa. One alum, Lexi Erwin, plays professionally in Finland. College Park has two seniors committed to play for Division I schools next year, with Hanna Erwin set to go to the University of Denver and Kennedi Smith set to attend the University of New Hampshire.

There’s nothing like high school football season in Texas, and it’s no different in the communities that Ultimate Pools serves. Just like everyone else around here, we’re looking forward to the start of football season, especially at The Woodlands College Park High School.

We’re proud to provide financial support for the Cavaliers for the upcoming 2015 season, as College Park looks to qualify for the playoffs for the second straight season and for the fourth time since the school was founded in 2005. The Cavaliers will be competing in District 16-6A this season against Kingwood, Conroe, Atascosita, Summer Creek, Oak Ridge and, of course, The Woodlands High.

College Park opens its season today by playing a non-district game at Pearland High School at 7 p.m. The Cavaliers will play their home games at Woodforest Stadium in The Woodlands, where they’ll host Katy Taylor, Houston Benjamin Davis, Oak Ridge and Kingwood along with playing “at” The Woodlands on October 9.
